Here you will find a transcription of the various Sheldon Magazine volumes, along with our new version with updated notes.  This will be a lengthy project so pages may not be transcribed in order so that we may give preference to lines that are currently being researched.

Notes on public domain:

All publications printer prior to 1928 are now in the public domain as of 1 Jan 2023.  This includes all of the volumes published by the Rev. Henry O. Sheldon from 1855-1857.

All publications printed between 1928 and 1978 without a copyright notice, are in the public domain.  Between 1957 and 1973 Leland Locke Sheldon and Carew Sheldon published reprinted volumes I, II, III, and IV, plus two new volumes V and VI, of the original Sheldon Magazine with additional notes and corrections for the Sheldon Family Association.  We have copies of these publications and confirm that of the six – only Vol III (1961) and Vol VI (1969) included a copyright notice.  This confirms that the reprints for Vol I (1973), Vol II (1965), Vol IV (1961), and Vol V (1957) are all in the public domain.

All publication printed between 1928 and 1963 with a notice, but the copyright was not renewed, is in the public domain.  The reprint for Vol III (1961) was not renewed and is also in the public domain.

All publications printed between 1963 and 1978 with a notice are not required to have been renewed and are NOT in the public domain (they are protected) for 95 years from the date of publication.  This means that the Vol VI (1969) will not be in the public domain until the year 2064.  For this reason, Vol VI is excluded from these transcriptions with only an index of the names and pages included above.
